ParkingFree valet parking is available. Drive up to the front door of Medcenter One (turn right into the entrance off of Seventh Street) and your car will be parked for you. If you prefer to park your car, parking is provided free of charge. The parking lot is located on the east side of Q&R Clinic. The entrance to the parking lot is on Broadway Avenue. Free valet parkingWhen Medcenter One started its valet parking program in March 2007, customers weren’t sure what to think. The first day of the service, the attendants parked between 30 and 40 cars, said Jim Paul, valet manager. Nearly three years later, that initial skepticism has faded. Now, attendants park between 160 and 165 cars a day for Medcenter One patients and their families. In January, a little more than 3,000 people took advantage of the free service. “A lot of people are still amazed at the fact that valet parking is available. It’s still kind of a new baby in this part of the country. They’re even more amazed that it’s free,” said Paul, noting the service and convenience the program provides. “This gives people a way not to have to be frustrated looking for a place in the parking lot that may not be there.” In addition to parking cars, the valets fetch wheelchairs for patients, and the drivers are the first line of customer service and can set the tone for experiences patients and families have. “I always wonder: ‘What did people do before we were here?’” Paul said. “We have people who have trouble walking who drive themselves. People just praise it all the time. Not only because it’s here but because of the service we provide.” Valet parking is available 7 a.m.—5 p.m. Monday through Friday. To use the service, customers simply need to drive up to the front door of Medcenter One by turning into the entrance off Seventh Street. Medcenter One is the first hospital and clinic in the state to provide this innovative convenience for its patients and visitors. |
